Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I have dreamed of being an author since second grade.  I started writing little poems in fifth grade and my friends would illustrate them.  The teacher posted our finished works on the bulletin board and I was so happy. 
High school I carried around a composition notebook everywhere and hand wrote a novel during any spare time I had.  I remember my physics teacher would ask if I'd gotten anything new written.

I never felt I was very good at art though.  I've always enjoyed drawing and sketching, but never saw myself being an artist. I have practiced almost everyday because I like art.  It was just recently, however, I decided I wanted to do both writing and illustrating.

I've kept most of my writing to myself to close friends/family for years now. I said to myself that someday I'll send my work out, but not yet.   As years went by my friends would ask if I had sent anything out.  Some newer friends would show surprise that I had aspirations to be a writer at all.

Finally, last Christmas season I made my new year's resolution to send my works out to agents.  I wish I could tell you I've had a fairy tale year where agents fell in love with my work, but I can't.  I'm on the typical writer journey of trudging.  That's okay though because I don't think I'd have come to the conclusion to illustrate if I'd been part of a fairy tale.

Little Acorn

Little Acorn Acorn was playing in the soft green grass when something bumped her head. Looking up, Acorn noticed that there were leaves falling from every tree.  Red, orange, yellow and green leaves gently fell.  While she watched, another bonked her nose.  Acorn felt afraid.  “The leaves are falling! The leaves are falling,” She screamed, as she ran home. Mother Squirrel sat on the porch, sipping tea.  “Mother, Mother, the leaves are falling.” Acorn yelled, flying up the steps. “Yes, I know it's Autumn.” Mother said, blowing at her brew. “Go play. Soon the weather will turn cold.” Acorn skipped back down the path.  As she stepped off onto the grass, she heard an unusual sound.  Crunch Crunch. “What is that sound?” There was only one explanation, “The ground is breaking, the ground is breaking!” Acorn screamed, running back towards home. Mom was still sipping her tea. “The ground is breaking! The ground is breaking!” Acorn yelled.

Jack O'Who?

"You’re too chicken to do it,” Sean sneered. The harvest moon shone bright on the two boys.     “I am not.” Jack paused. “Give it here.”   “Remember, you gotta leave it on long enough for me to take lots of good pictures.” Jack rolled his eyes and sighed, “Yeah, Yeah, I know.   Just hand it here.   I can’t believe I lost a stupid bet to you.” Sean picked up a giant pumpkin, “Here you go.” The hole was just big enough for a head to squeeze through. Jack looked hilarious. He peered through the carved-out eyes.   “Hurry so I can get out of here.   Pumpkin guts stink.” Sean took several photos, making sure to try all different angles.   “Alright, that’s enough, help me out.” Jack started tearing at the pumpkin. “Really dude!
