The big spooky house looms nearby.  “Halloween is too scary, I just have to get past the haunted house and I’m home free,” Little Kitty shivers. He slinks through the grass. “Is that a witch?  Is that a caldron? Full of evil potion?  This is much too scary,” Little Kitty howls, breaking into a run. “Hi Kitty, don’t you want a treat?” The witch calls. Little kitty stops interested, “A treat?” “Come see.” Little Kitty walks cautiously to the cauldron and peeks in. “It’s not filled with scary witch’s brew at all,” “Trick or Treat,” she grins. “Happy Halloween!”

Chicken waited for her egg to hatch. She saw Henrietta’s hatch; cute, fluffy and sweet. Chicken was anxious to see her baby’s cute yellow feathers, soft and downy. Shake, crack, pop. Chicken’s baby hatches. Wait, green skin, hard shell? You’re not a chicken.   I still love you, my baby turtle.  

Sally loves Valentine’s day.  Her favorite colors are red and pink and her favorite pastime is making cards for her friends.  This year she sits down at her craft table with pink, red and white construction paper, markers and some glue. She cuts out heart shapes and glues them together to make a cute bird face and inside writes “You’re TWEET.” She makes cards for her friends Suzy and Rachel, she makes cards for the kids that sit near her in class, John and Matt.  When she got to Scott’s card she felt the urge to add extra hearts inside. Scott is the new kid in class and he is kind and sweet.  Sally hopes he’ll notice that his card is extra special. Sally hopes Scott thinks she’s extra special too.  Maybe he’ll ask her to be his Valentine this year. The next day Sally brings her bag of Valentines to class. She made one for each kid in class and the extra special one for Scott.  She passes out the cards to all her friends, they all tell her how cute they...

Sorry everyone. Somehow I lost track of time for much too long.  I have been drawing this whole time.  I'll share some of my favorites. A row of mittens drying on a branch. So, NanoWriMo has begun, so not as much going on with art, but since last week was the Halloweensie contest I do have a few pieces from the past two weeks.  I got a black paper journal with metallic pencils and drew a few pictures for a new kids book I was working on before I got taken over by the November writing.   Raccoon talking to Moon  The Star Café  Tandy in a whole new direction.  Little kitty and possible Tandy.  Witch Boot  Creepy Trick or Treater. zombie graveyard scene.   Let me know which Tandy is your favorite.  I like them both.  

  Monster Candy- Halloweensie Contest     It was dark and my mom and I decided to stop trick or treating and go home. Rustle, I heard when mom opened the door. “Did you hear that?” I asked.  “Was it a monster?” “No,” she replied. I saw a square shadow move across the room.  Wait, a bag of candy corn? Strange. I grabbed the bag, it wiggled, I opened it and peered inside. The candy corn peered back and it looked angry.  Halloween magic?  They were trying to climb out and get me. I tilted the bag back and opened my mouth.  They were angry, but yummy.

This week has been productive- as my title says.  I've worked on several pieces of art, there are a couple I'm really not happy with but some I really like. This week I tore apart one of my book manuscripts and I'm almost ready to send it back out into the world.  I'm hoping the revisions strike a cord with an agent.  I'm very pleased with the rewrites, I believe its loads stronger than the last.  Also, I will be opening a Behance account to show the best of my work to potential agents.  I will still do this blog and share what I've been working on, but since agents are overworked, a condensed Behance with just my best work seems like the way to go.   Here is the ghost mermaid finished from last week.  An orange monster or monster dust bunny, out enjoying a sunny day.  This one isn't my favorite, but I did enjoy working with so many colors.  This is supposed to be the rose from beauty and the beast in front...
